Most Tableau Next engagements fail for the same reason most analytics projects fail: nobody looked hard enough at the data and governance underneath before building on top of it. Before we touch a workspace or a semantic model, we audit:

• Existing Tableau Cloud, Tableau Server, or CRM Analytics assets and how they map to Tableau Next’s workspace model
• Data 360 readiness, including data model maturity and existing Data Cloud investments
• Where your data actually lives today, Salesforce, Snowflake, Databricks, AWS, or elsewhere – and which of those sources are better federated than migrated
• Governance and metrics ownership across business units, so “trusted data” means the same thing to everyone
• Where agentic analytics skills (Data Pro, Concierge, Inspector) create real value versus where they’d just add noise

Most enterprises we work with have data spread across Snowflake, Databricks, AWS, GCP and other systems, and moving all of it into Salesforce was never a realistic plan. Because Tableau Next runs on Data 360, it can query that data where it already sits, through zero-copy federation, instead of requiring a full migration before reporting can start.

That capability is real, but it’s not one setting you turn on. Data 360 offers different federation methods and each comes with its own cost and performance profile depending on where your warehouse compute lives and how often the data changes. Choosing the wrong one for a given data source is one of the more common ways these projects end up costing more than a straightforward ingestion would have. This is exactly the kind of decision our assessment is built to catch before it becomes a line item you didn’t expect.
